The Community Advisory Council

The Community Advisory Council (CAC) to Flint Hills Resources is a diverse group of concerned citizens sharing a common belief: open dialogue between the community and the Pine Bend Refinery enhances the quality of life in Dakota County.

The Council includes 20 representatives from communities surrounding the refinery: Apple Valley, Coates, Eagan, Empire Township, Hastings, Inver Grove Heights, Nininger Township, Rosemount and Vermillion Townships, as well as four Pine Bend employees and one Minnesota Pollution Control Agency representative.

What’s New

The CAC Annual Planning Retreat was held at Southview Country Club, West St. Paul, on Saturday, April 5th.

Decision Resources, LTD presented the findings of the CAC community survey at the March 10th, 2008 meeting. Presenters were Bill Morris and Peter Leatherman.

The February meeting included an informative presentation by Mr. Dennis C. Hendershot (Biography of Dennis Hendershot), a member of the BP North American Refineries Independent Safety Panel, chaired by former Secretary of State James Baker. WE HAVE MOVED! The February CAC meeting will take place at our new location in the Dakota Room at Dakota County Technical Center. For directions to the new location, click on Maps for DCTC.

At the January meeting, 6 new Council members were welcomed. Heather Rein and John Hofland, FHR presented the FHR Business Overview. Stephanie Boyer, Senior Operations Engineer, FHR, presented “Refining 101” and conducted a refinery tour.
